  • I am pleased to welcome you to the inaugural issue of the new Reserve Rotator. This is a newsletter for and by reserve officers, and it was developed to provide timely, pertinent, and useful information to the entire corps. It is our goal to include articles of interest to our reserve officers.

I invite reserve officers to submit articles of relevance for inclusion in future newsletters. We rely on you to be our eyes and ears across the different divisions. If you have any information you’d like to include, please feel free to e-mail me at the address below, or contact your reserve coordinator or your R-5.

In future issues, we will feature the results of the survey many of you recently completed. The survey is already allowing the Command Staff to gain a better understanding of critical issues and concerns among Reserve officers. Your input and comments to the survey were highly valued and are very important. They are already assisting the Department in their decision-making process as we collectively find ways to enhance the program. The Department Management has found the feedback invaluable and your opinions and perceptions on a variety of critical issues are providing a roadmap for improvements.

Finally, I want to personally thank many of you who have contributed articles for this newsletter and Wally Sabria, a new Specialist Reserve, for the design and programming of this electronic publication. If you have ideas for articles or would like to write any, please contact the editorial staff: Rudy Crusat - crusat@comcast.net, Randi Tahara - rtahara@bos.co.la.ca.us, Eric Rose – erose@webershandwick.com. I hope you find the information in this newsletter valuable, and I look forward to your input as we continue to grow and improve the LAPD Reserve Program.

    Sincerely,

    Rudy Crusat
    Senior Editor
